When I first started blogging, more than 7 years ago, blogs weren’t what they are today. I started because I loved beauty and I wanted to share my opinions and reviews with the public and from there it took off to where I am today. Do I regret it? No way! I really love what I do, but I’ll be honest with you, it’s not always rainbows and sunshine.
Nowadays, if you want to get your name out there as a blogger, especially as a beginner, passion is not enough and you really have to do your homework and learn at least the basics before you even start writing your first article. I know that my remark might be shocking, but in a world with millions of blogs, you have to learn how to make yours stand up and gain readers and in order to do that you need to follow some steps.
Choose a niche and a blog title
It’s important to have a strategy and decide upfront what you want to write about. That way your blog won’t be confusing for the readers and they will know from the beginning what types of articles they can find on your blog. When you choose a title, choose something that you can relate too and that’s catchy and can be easily remembered. Sometimes you might discover that the title you had in mind is taken, don’t be disappointed, try different names until you will find something to your liking.
There are plenty of influencers at the moment that could also be an inspiration to you when deciding what you want to write about. Take your time, look around and decide what is best for you.
Making your blog read and look good
This one is key. First and foremost, the most important thing people will notice is the aesthetics. That means you have to have a great design, as well as pay attention to things like the layout and ease of use. Don’t forget, that you should also be focusing on posting regularly so that there’s a stream of interesting content for your readers. To see what posts your readers like to read and engage with, I suggest you use Google Analytics, there you can find all the necessary information that you need to know about your audience and what works best.
