5 hacks to change your colour theme

There comes a time when we all find ourselves a little tired of our home décor since we look at it every day. Sometimes it’s nice to spruce up your rooms without committing to a complete décor overhaul. Here are five hacks to change your colour theme, without picking up a paintbrush.

Update your cushions

Never underestimate the power of some scatter cushions. Not only will they transform your colour scheme, they also help make your space a comfortable haven to relax in. The scatter cushions at Arlo and Jacob come in various sizes and over 120 fabrics, so you will definitely find a shade that you love.

Add an area rug

Opt for an area rug to complete transform your space and bring some vibrant colour or pattern. Whether it’s a bedroom, living room, bathroom or hallway, an area rug can dramatically change a space. This stunning rug from Swoon is lovely shade of pink and has some beautiful tassel details to the edges.

Change your dinnerware

We use our dinnerware every day and it can have a big impact on our dining rooms when we set the table for dinner parties. Updating your plates and bowls for a bold colour is a quick win. Better yet, have two sets that you can use intermittently so you never got bored of just the one colour. We love this rustic set from John Lewis that comes in a range of colours. This turquoise set from OKA will likewise pack a punch at lunch (or dinner too).

Tile a backsplash

A practical way to introduce some colour to your bathrooms and kitchens is a tiled splashback. Hexagon tiles are having a real moment in the spotlight right now, and this on-trend turquoise blue is a gorgeous colour to help introduce a new colour theme; match your towels and you’ll have a completely new look.

Change the artwork

There’s no need to even so much as look at a paintbrush to change the colour on your walls. By simply changing your wall art you can update the whole colour scheme to tie in with your new accessories. It’s a much cheaper and fuss-free way of updating the colour scheme, plus a ‘statement’ wall is ‘out’ for 2019, with more subtle hints of colour from hanging wall art being favoured. Cult Furniture have a fabulous selection of posters and prints to suit whichever colour scheme you go for.
